3 predictions for MaximoWorld 2018

In two weeks, more than 1,000 Maximo users, professionals, and enthusiasts from around the globe will gather in Orlando for MaximoWorldTM 2018.

What is MaximoWorldTM?

For those unfamiliar with the event, MaximoWorldTM is a communal knowledge-sharing forum dedicated to “peace, love, and Maximo.” The conference draws asset management specialists, implementation facility suppliers, digital innovators, data scientists, support teams, forecasters and mobility whizzes united by their proficiency in and affection for IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management.

Now in its 17th year, this year’s three-day event features emerging asset management technologies, recently identified best practices for capturing a healthy ROI on your EAM investment, workshops on asset and work management skills, and more to augment your Maximo experience. More than 100 speakers in five concurrent panels will share their Maximo expertise and best practices. With seven user groups, three courses, five sessions, two summits, and two panel discussions all occurring simultaneously at the Disney Swan conference center, it will be difficult to choose what to attend.

The trends: our predictions

Looking at the line-up, our team is super excited to attend our first MaximoWorldTM event. Here’s our predictions for common themes and trends at the conference:

  1. Something for everyone

Whether you’re a super-user or newbie, upgrading for the umpteenth time or just beginning your asset management journey, you’ll find new tips and tricks at MaximoWorldTM. And with so many IBM-ers, solution providers, and implementation partners attending, presenting, and demoing in the Expo Hall, we expect you’ll also find an answer to all of your pressing Maximo questions. Personally, I’m excited to hear the keynote about how AI, robotics, and machine learning will affect the asset management industry. I also look forward to IBM’s presentations about the Maximo product roadmap and how to incorporate blockchain technology into Maximo for added security.

  1. P2P exchanges

More than just a massive Maximo training, MaximoWorldTM focuses on peer-to-peer learning. Whether in a case study session or user group, you’ll be called upon to share your experiences and insights and to contribute to the shared knowledge of this Maximo community.

We’re particularly interested in the industry- and topic-focused user groups. We’re always on the lookout for new solution accelerators that can help us to upgrade or install Maximo more efficiently and effectively in the various industry verticals we serve.

With more than 180 installs and upgrades under our belt, we’re coming prepared to share our ten tips and tricks for smoother deployments and upgrades; swing by Booth #307 to pick up your copy.

  1. Integrated technology

This year’s conference theme is “An Ecosystem for Asset Management.” Conference organizer and host Terry O’Hanlan defines the ecosystem as “the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, machine-assisted maintenance, and remote monitoring” technologies that are transforming how organizations manage their assets.

We expect to see many new, cutting-edge IoT technologies demonstrated in the Expo Hall. Additionally, the AI & IoT Technology Showcase will feature cutting-edge, connected solutions that support smarter, more integrated, and nearly plug-and-play Maximo implementations.

Look for me in showcase! I’ll be demonstrating how Motors@Work’s asset performance management solution gives Maximo better insight into the health and performance of your motor-driven systems.

  1. Smooth moves

Most importantly, we expect to see who has the grooviest ‘60s costumes and dance moves at the MaxStock festival.
